Nacer Chadli believes that Tottenham have
plenty of positives to take from their start to the Premier League
season, despite failing to record a victory in three games so far.
Spurs began the campaign with a 1-0 defeat at Manchester
United, before throwing away leads against Stoke and Leicester to draw
both games. Mauricio Pochettino's side now host Everton on Saturday Night Football in pursuit of their first victory of 2015/16.
"We've not started that well, but we've shown some good things in the way we've played," Chadli told Soccer Saturday.
"At Leicester, we played well and scored the goal, but afterwards we
conceded. Against Stoke, we did well for 70 minutes then conceded late
goals. But I think there are good things to take from it."
Tottenham
finished outside the top four again last season, failing to qualify for
the Champions League, and although Chadli thinks it was a good campaign
for the club, they will still target more this time around.
"We
had quite a good season finishing fifth with a cup final," added the
26-year-old Belgium international winger. "So [this season] we will aim
for better. Everyone wants to work in the same direction and has the
same goals."
Spurs boss Pochettino has recruited attacking players Clinton N'Jie
and Son Heung-min recently, but Chadli is not concerned about the extra
competition, believing it will only help him improve.
"I think the
more players we have the better it is for the team," added Chadli. "If
you have a lot of competition to play it makes you play better. That's
my goal (to get better this season), I always aim for the best."
